Rosacea
Rosacea is a common, chronic skin disease characterized by facial redness and flushing, acne-like bumps, and sun-sensitivity. Rosacea typically develops in patients 30-50 years of age and is more common in females. Patients may have certain triggers such as spicy foods, heat exposure, exercise, alcohol, caffeine, or emotional distress, amongst others.
The exact cause is not understood, but vascular hyperactivity, immune system activation, UV exposure and microbial exposure (Demodex mites) have all been suggested to play a role in Its development.
